Once again trains were late, and not to mention packed full with people. Ah well, what else is new.
I guess I shouldn't bitch so much about public transport so much... Then again... I do enjoy going on about how much it sucks!
Ah, on the lighter side of things, my girlfriend's wit (read: stupidity) always seems to cheer me up :-). Yay for her!!! I don't know what I'd do without her. Probably laugh a lot less ...
Ah bugger it, back to public transport.
This morning I was wondering how shittyrail justifies its fines.
Several of the fines as
listed on their website:
Offence: Putting feet on train seats
On the spot fine: $100
Max. fine: $550
Offence: Travelling without a valid ticket
On the spot fine: $200
Max. fine: $550
Offence: Smoking under any covered station
area (including covered platforms
and underground stations),
or on a train
On the spot fine: $400
Max. fine: $1,100
Now compare these to say, I don't know very fucking serious offences like speeding, this list is from the
Roads & Traffic Authority website:
Exceed speed limit by: Not more than 15 km/h
Fine: $75
Exceed speed limit by: More than 15 km/h but
not more than 30 km/h
Fine: $208
I mean, fair enough, you get demerit points on your license as well, so you could theoretically only get caught for speeding about 4 times before you lose your license. But the principal of the matter is still that I am not going to endanger any person by putting my feet on the seat of a train, nor do I harm anyone by not having a valid ticket. These ridiculously high fines do not reflect on the petty things they are imposed on.
Shittyrail, you suck. Big time.
Furthermore, they claim to have some real complex stuff going on, offcourse I don't want you to take this out of context, so read the full page
here
CityRail works hard to meet its on-time running goals, however the performance of our trains can be affected by a number of factors. The NSW rail network is one of the world?s most complex and the task of moving close to 1 million passengers each day presents a real challenge.
If moving 1 million passengers is such a challenge, howcome the US and many countries in Europe don't have the same problems when moving many many more people. I mean, sure they have their delays and what-not, but they also move more people.
Anyway, I think I might leave it at this for now, enough crapping on for one day I suppose.
Again, on a lighter leaving note, I found some fantastic videos on the web, be warned, even though I thought they were all amusing, you might throw up or in some other way show your disgust.
